The standard V4L2 command-line tool for camera control. emeet-pixyd uses it under the hood for PTZ control. Part of v4l-utils.

Professional streaming software. When OBS opens the camera device, emeet-pixyd detects it as a “call” and activates tracking. The two work together seamlessly.

Not an OBS fork — and not trying to be. EMEET STUDIO, the vendor’s official Windows/macOS app, is an OBS Studio fork: scenes, sources, transitions, a virtual camera, and ByteDance beauty filters on an embedded libobs (verified by disassembling the installer — see the internal comparison doc in the repository). It also has zero call awareness: it never detects that you are in a call. emeet-pixyd is the opposite shape — a single small headless binary that speaks the same wire protocol as the official app and automates what it leaves manual. If you want OBS, use OBS; if you want the PIXY’s hardware features to just work on Linux, use emeet-pixyd; the two coexist (point OBS at /dev/video0 and let emeet-pixyd run the camera’s intelligence underneath).

The modern Linux audio/video stack. emeet-pixyd uses wpctl (WirePlumber CLI) to switch the default audio source to the PIXY microphone on call start.

Real-time audio effects for PipeWire. Complements the PIXY’s built-in noise cancellation if you need additional audio processing.

Highly customizable Wayland status bar. emeet-pixyd provides JSON output (emeet-pixy waybar) for custom modules with camera state, tooltip, and CSS classes.

QtQuick-based Wayland desktop shells. emeet-pixyd exposes a GET /api/status JSON endpoint that shell widgets poll for live camera state, the HTTP equivalent of the Waybar integration. See the Quickshell integration guide.

emeet-pixyd integrates with systemd via sd_notify (READY=1, WATCHDOG=1) and ships as a systemd user service in the NixOS module.

emeet-pixyd exposes OpenTelemetry-based metrics at /metrics in Prometheus format. Point your scraper at localhost:8090/metrics and visualize probe results, stream duration, and command latency.

Declarative user package and dotfile management for NixOS. Works alongside the emeet-pixyd NixOS module.

emeet-pixyd is distributed as a Nix flake. Add it as an input and consume the NixOS module or build directly.

The key differentiator is the first row: emeet-pixyd detects calls by watching /proc, so it works with any app. The others are general-purpose camera tools you operate manually.

Cross-platform webcam suite with effects and virtual cameras. More general-purpose; emeet-pixyd is specifically optimized for the EMEET PIXY’s hardware features (AI tracking, hardware privacy shutter, HID protocol).

Kernel module for creating virtual video devices. Useful if you want to pipe the PIXY feed through processing before presenting it to applications.
