Quick Start

Terminal window
emeet-pixyd

The daemon starts listening on:

  • Unix socket at /run/emeet-pixyd/socket for CLI commands
  • HTTP server at http://127.0.0.1:8090 for the web UI
Terminal window
emeet-pixy status

Output:

Camera: tracking
Audio: nc
Gesture: off
PTZ: pan=0 tilt=0 zoom=100
In call: false
Auto: full

If the camera shows offline, check your USB connection and udev rules:

Terminal window
lsusb | grep 328f
# Should show: Bus 001 Device 004: ID 328f:00c0 ... (or 328f:0118 on the PIXY 2K)
emeet-pixy probe # Re-detect device

Navigate to http://127.0.0.1:8090 in your browser. You’ll see:

  • Live MJPEG camera preview (full-width hero)
  • Camera mode cards — Track, Idle, Privacy (keyboard shortcuts: T, I, P)
  • Audio segmented control — Noise Cancel, Live, Original
  • PTZ sliders with spatial position radar
  • Snapshot button
  • Preset save/load chips
  • Toast notifications for state changes

Open Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, OBS, or any application that opens /dev/video*. The daemon detects this automatically and:

  1. Enables face tracking + noise cancellation
  2. Switches your PipeWire audio source to the PIXY microphone

When the call ends, the daemon enters privacy mode — the hardware lens shutter physically blocks the camera.

Any command can be sent via the CLI:

Terminal window
emeet-pixy track # Enable face tracking
emeet-pixy idle # Set camera to idle
emeet-pixy privacy # Enable privacy mode (lens blocked)
emeet-pixy center # Center camera (pan=0, tilt=0, zoom=100)
emeet-pixy pan -90 # Pan left 90 degrees
emeet-pixy tilt 45 # Tilt up 45 degrees
emeet-pixy zoom 120 # Zoom to 120%

The daemon supports four automation strategies. The default is full:

Mode On call start On call end
full Face tracking + noise cancellation + audio switch Privacy mode
tracking-only Face tracking Privacy mode
privacy-only Nothing Privacy mode
off Nothing Nothing

Change auto mode:

Terminal window
emeet-pixy auto tracking-only
emeet-pixy auto-off # Disable all automation
